On Debian initscripts, between 2.88dsf-59 and 2.88dsf-59.9 as been added, as alternative to sysv-rc/file-rc, dependancy against openrc.

I think openrc by default uses /etc/init.d scripts

Is there a reason not to do so in Devuan?

Hi,

sysvinit 2.88dsf-59.9+devuan2 is available enabling installation of
openrc. The remaining problem is initscripts->sysvinit-utils->util-
linux.

util-linux (2.29.2-1+devuan1) is available as source but currently
FTBFS due to a bug in /dev/ptmx permissions under pbuilder.

From the build log:
https://ci.devuan.org/job/util-linux-binaries/architecture=i386,label=i
386/94/console
03:08:45 script: buffering race ...script: openpty failed: No such file
or directory

It seems like the pbuilder version is 0.221.3 (at least on build005)
and the fixed version is 0.228.6 or later.
