However, inn2 is not a forked package and Devuan uses Debian's packages directly without recompilation. In principle, this issue should be reported to Debian's BTS to be fixed there. Non-systemd init is still possible in Debian. You are more likely to get a fix if you can narrow down the issue in the initscript and/or submit a patch to the Debian maintainer. Mark

This led to a high number of processes on a server. Using a 'service inn2 stop' with a bit of a wait followed by 'service inn2 start' made this problem go away. I suspect something in the init scripts, this being Devuan, but I'm not sure. -- System Information: Distributor ID: Devuan Description: Devuan GNU/Linux 3 (beowulf) Release: 3 Codename: beowulf Architecture: x86_64 Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-17-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages inn2 depends on: ii cron [cron-daemon] 3.0pl1-134+deb10u1 ii inn2-inews 2.6.3-1+deb10u2 ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libdb5.3 5.3.28+dfsg1-0.5 ii libmime-tools-perl 5.509-1 ii libpam0g 1.3.1-5 ii libperl5.28 5.28.1-6+deb10u1 ii libsasl2-2 2.1.27+dfsg-1+deb10u1 ii libssl1.1 1.1.1d-0+deb10u7 ii lsb-base 10.2019051400 ii perl 5.28.1-6+deb10u1 ii perl-base [perlapi-5.28.1] 5.28.1-6+deb10u1 ii procps 2:3.3.15-2+devuan1 ii sendmail-bin [mail-transport-agent] 8.15.2-14~deb10u1 ii time 1.7-25.1+b1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1 inn2 recommends no packages.
