Sorry, Andreas,

spoke too soon. Now armhf and armel are broken.

NOW Debian has "upgraded" aptitude to version 0.8.13-6.

THIS ONE now depends on the libapt-pkg6.0-t64 version on all
architectures.

So that version needs to be uploaded to the arhf and armel architecture
as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

Best Regards
Friedhelm

Yes, please. This is also preventing updates to the official Devuan
container images that I maintain.

There are a pile of transitions going on in testing. The 64bit time_t
one is just one of several. Looking at

  https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/apt

this morning for example, it still mentions

  auto-db5.3
  auto-apt
  auto-gnutls28

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Mark.

Just to clarify things a bit:

The problem is more complicated. The main cause is, that aptitude has
different versions with various architectures in Sid.

> rmadison aptitude

...

> aptitude | 0.8.13-5+b1 | testing | amd64, arm64, armel,
> armhf, i386, mips64el, ppc64el, s390x

> aptitude | 0.8.13-5+b1 | unstable | armel, armhf
> aptitude | 0.8.13-5+b2 | unstable | amd64, arm64, i386,
> mips64el, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x

Version 0.8.13-5+b1 depends on libapt-pkg6.0, while version 0.8.13-5+b2
depends on 0.8.13-5+b2t64, which exists in Sid, but not in Ceres.

Those two libraries conflict with each other.

Since aptitude is used by pbuilder/cowbuilder, this leads to the strange
situation, that you can use, update, and create a chroot for building
packets in Ceres fine, when you use arch armel or armhf.

However when you try this with any other architecture, this fails,
because of the missing t64 library.

When you are on Debian Sid the situation is just the opposite!!!

You can use it fine on any architecture exept armel and armhf. It fails,
because the t64 library version conflicts with the other one.

So, what I have done, to get my chroots for pbuilder back, is:

I have created those in Ceres for armhf amd armel.

Then I created chroots for Debian Sid for the other architectures.

With those I have renamed them, edited the sources list within, added
the devuan keyrings and MIGRATED those to Devuan.

Very nasty workaround, but this way I can build packets for Devuan Ceres
again. :-)

Best Regards
Friedhelm

Due to the on-going and protracted 64bit time_t transition, this isn't going to
happen soon. If you have time, I think it would be worth updating to 2.7.14 in
ceres.

I have found, that libapt-pkg6.0t64 was added in 2.7.13. I usually wait
for packages to enter at least testing before updating them in Devuan
to avoid glitches. There have been lots of nmu uploads for apt the last
weeks. I would kindly ask you to wait a bit, I assume
2.7.13 will migrate to testing in a couple of days.

Best regards
Andreas

Package: apt
Version: 2.7.10devuan1

libapt-pkg6.0t64 is missing in the Devuan Ceres archive.

This prevents aptitude from being upgraded.

This in turn makes it impossible to create a chroot for
pbuilder/cowbuilder for Ceres.

"gbp buildpackage -git-pbuilder --git-dist=ceres --git-arch=amd64
create"

does not work.

This situation is a kind of disaster, because this prevents me from
building packages for Devuan Ceres with pbuilder/cowbuilder.

Best Regards
Friedhelm
